Creative Thinkers hiding among us...

Did you know that Room 27 have some amazing creative thinkers hiding amongst us? In fact we have A LOT of them!

Miss Johnson was so proud of all of the problem solving and creative thinking that went into our holiday homework. We had to create a game with our families, using some of the things we had a home. We created a plan and brought our games to school.

Donabelle made a target game. She used an old shoe box. You have to throw the "balls" into one of the holes and each hole gives you different points. 

Makayla made an I Spy Lava Lamp. She hid a rubber jelly fish inside the lava lamp- You have to shake it to find the jelly fish. 

Peter made a Monster Marble Eater. You have to try and get the marbles into the monster mouth. Be careful of the teeth! 

Ashley made a Ring Toss. You have to throw your rings over each of the bottles to get points. Each bottle is worth different points, so pick carefully which one you want to get. 

Worms continued...

Yesterday we looked at the different  parts of a worm and how these help the worm to do its very special job! We learnt how to label, as well as some very new words. 

Using our diagram and labels we wanted to share with you, (our audience), the different ways that each body part helps the worm to help us! 

Statistics in Room 27

In term 1 Room 27 had lots of fun learning about the different features of objects, animals and things around us. We learnt that you can sort and group objects or 'things' by their shared characteristics. 

Miss Johnson gave us a challenge! We had to take photos of things around us and use Pic Collage to create two groups that have shared features. We all did a great job. 

Peter sorted his groups by shape. 

Farharn sorted his groups by colour. 

Donnabelle sorted her pictures by shape. 

Nathan sorted his groups by colour.

Shaye sorted his pictures by size.

We had a visitor...

Room 27 had a visit from our school Dental Nurse, Shirley. She came to talk to us about how to care for our teeth, how to clean our teeth and showed us what to eat to keep our teeth healthy.

We wrote questions to ask Shirley. The red group wanted to know "Why we have to brush our teeth twice a day?"

Our Wellness Posters

For our first Parent Partnership Homework task, the Year 2 syndicate made Wellness posters with our families. These posters show what wellness means to each of us and our families. We talked about our cultures, our religion and the different types of food we eat at home.

These posters are a great way to get to know each others and to show everyone how proud we are of our culture and families.
