James and the Giant Peach were learning about word endings using our new activity today. Today they looked at the ending -an.
This is the learning blog of Room 27, a Year 1 and 2 class. On this blog we will be sharing our learning with our parents, whanau and school community. As a learning space we know that mistakes will happen, but that's great because mistakes are all a part of learning. We hope that you enjoy exploring our learning journey.

We need your help!
Room 27 are learning about the different communities that we belong to. We know that we belong to our church communities, our local communities, and our school community, but is there more?
Miss Johnson told us that we belong to a global community, but what is this? We are looking at all the places that our blog travels around the world, to see how far the ideas and learning in Room 27, in Papatoetoe New Zealand, can reach.
We would love to hear from you and add your location to our map. Please tell us if you read our blog where you are from. It helps us build connections with the world beyond our known.
Worms continued...
Yesterday we looked at the different parts of a worm and how these help the worm to do its very special job! We learnt how to label, as well as some very new words.
Using our diagram and labels we wanted to share with you, (our audience), the different ways that each body part helps the worm to help us!

Worms, worms, worms!
Room 27 had a lot of fun creating a working Worm Farm today! We were exploring ways that we can throw less rubbish away, because we know that rubbish is a problem for our school.
The worms eat our scrap food, so we set up a compost bin to collect all of our food waste. This is what we feed to our worms. Then we can give our worm t to the edible garden children to help their vegetables grow!

Our new pets!
Room 27 are VERY excited to welcome 300 wiggly and slimy pets to our class.
Today we got Tiger Worms for our worm farm that we are making on Friday. They are all living in this little box. But don't worry they are alright in there.
We are making a worm farm to help us fix a big problem in our school... rubbish! We are using the worms to help us answer our question... "How can Room 27 throw away less rubbish?"
Watch our blog to see how it goes!
