Room 27 had a lot of fun creating a working Worm Farm today! We were exploring ways that we can throw less rubbish away, because we know that rubbish is a problem for our school.
The worms eat our scrap food, so we set up a compost bin to collect all of our food waste. This is what we feed to our worms. Then we can give our worm t to the edible garden children to help their vegetables grow!
Check out our instructional video!
Wow that looks like heaps of fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peter and Peter's Mum. We had lots of fun!
DeleteThank you for making a helpful video that gives me instructions on how to make my own worm farm. I am excite about making one to use my old newspapers in a way that helps the environment, and will also help my garden!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. We are working really hard to help our school environment. We hope we helped you learn something new!
DeleteWow! I'm writing from near Niagara Falls, NY in the USA. We have many people around here who compost their rubbish to be more helpful for the environment! I think they could benefit from seeing your video. I'm going to share this on Twitter and Facebook so all of my friends, colleagues, and family can see what you've done. I love learning with people around the world! I hope that you will blog updates to your worm farm every couple of weeks and let us know how the worms are doing! Great job everyone!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing our blog! We looked up where you live and want to know if it is a safe place for a worm farm, or could it be too cold? We will add more information about our worm farm when we can. :)
DeleteTo answer your questions you can only put some food scraps in the worm farm. You can put in vegetable and fruit leftovers, breads, egg shells and rotten leaves and flowers. You can't put in cheese, meat, butter or sugary food. The holes in the bottom of the box are so that the worm T can come through the bottom and we can get it, using a special tap.
